Physician Advisor - Near Boston & Providence, RI

Sturdy Memorial Hospital is seeking a Physician Advisor to join our community-based hospital in Attleboro, MA. We are a patient-focused organization and looking to grow our team with this brand new position to improve our delivery meaningful patient care. The role serves as a bridge between clinical care, hospital administration, and payer requirements, focusing on optimizing healthcare delivery while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

Since 1913, Sturdy Memorial Hospital has been dedicated to providing its community with a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. What started as a 15-bed facility over 100 years ago has grown to be a 132-bed facility. We admit over 7,000 individuals each year.

The Physician Advisor plays a vital role in healthcare, optimizing medical services through these key areas:

• Utilization Management
  • Reviews medical necessity and appropriate level of care
  • Manages length of stay and resource utilization
  • Handles denial management and payer communications
  • Participates in peer-to-peer reviews
  • Supports ED Case Management decisions
• Quality Improvement & Education
  • Provides education to physicians and staff on documentation, regulations, and care standards
  • Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities
  • Attends and conducts presentations at various hospital committees
  • Mentors other physicians on payer requirements
  • Supports risk management initiatives
• Clinical Documentation Improvement
  • Educates staff on documentation guidelines and coding
  • Optimizes clinical query processes
  • Improves documentation for severity, acuity, and DRG assignments
  • Develops strategies for Medicare compliance
  • Works to minimize risk and protect revenue

Requirements:

• MD or DO, or Equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of inpatient clinical work, ideally as a Hospitalist
• Previous experience working as a Physician Advisor, preferred
• BE/BC Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Current license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or ability to obtain
• Current certification in CPR required
