Position Description:
As a key member of the leadership team, the Physician Advisor is responsible for ensuring that objectives are achieved regarding the effective and efficient utilization of health care services for the organization; while serving the hospital through teaching, consulting and advising the care management and utilization review departments and the hospital leadership.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Medical Officer, the Physician Advisor works closely with medical staff leadership, medical staff and all areas of resource management, case management, social services, discharge planning and utilization management to develop and implement methods to optimize use of hospital services.

Minimum Requirements:
* Credentialed as a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
* Possess and maintain an unrestricted medical license in the State of Pennsylvania
* Minimum 5 years clinical experience in a hospital setting
* Possess or develop a solid foundation in the areas of utilization management and hospital operations including physician practice patterns, over and under-utilization of resources, medical necessity, levels of care, care progression, denial management, compliance with governmental and private payer regulations, and appropriate physician documentation requirements
